In Kostroma organized fairs to sell vegetables without intermediaries
Residents of the Kostroma region will be able to buy seasonal vegetables at producer prices at special agricultural fairs

Residents of the Kostroma region will be able to buy seasonal vegetables at producer prices at special agricultural fairs. The decision to organize them was taken on behalf of the regional leadership amid the ongoing harvesting campaign.
The Department of agro-industrial complex reported that the harvest of grain in the region is fully completed, and the plan for the harvesting of feed is overfulfilled. Potatoes are harvested from 90% of the area allocated for it: the harvest amounted to 46 thousand tons with an average yield of 280 centners per hectare. Harvesting of open ground vegetables also continues - more than half of the harvest has been harvested. The average yield is about 190 centners per hectare, which corresponds to last year’s level.
Now a kilogram of potatoes in retail stores costs from 30 to 45 rubles, while agricultural producers can buy it for an average of 20-25 rubles. The difference has to do with intermediaries.
To make the products more affordable, the fairs are planned to be held in Kostroma. In addition, in suburban areas will provide the opportunity to buy vegetables directly from the field for cash. Organisers expect direct sales to help residents cut spending on seasonal products.
