The situation with bear attacks in Siberia is becoming more tense: over the past month, six people have died in the Siberian Federal District due to predator attacks, four of them in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation explained that over 36 years the number of bears in the country has increased by 2.3 times and now reaches 307 thousand individuals. One of the main reasons is the availability of food waste: animals get used to feeding in landfills. A special threat is posed by bears, “grown up” in such conditions: bears lead to places where cubs accumulate waste, animals form stable eating habits, and subsequently they do not return to their natural diet. Because of this, predators increasingly come to populated areas – this trend is observed in many Russian regions.
