In the Kursk district convicted the driver of the truck for a fatal accident with two dead

The Kursk district court considered the case of a major accident that occurred in February 2025. The defendant was a local 66-year-old resident who drove a tractor and semi-trailer-tank.

Moving along the track in thick fog, the driver chose a speed of about 95.7 km / h, which significantly exceeded the allowed limit in this section of 70 km / h. As a result, the truck hit a stationary Renault Duster car, which was standing on the road after another accident.

From the impact, the foreign car was thrown into the oncoming lane, where it crashed into the Hyundai Solaris also standing with a participant in the previous accident. After that, the defendant’s tractor collided with Hyundai again.

The consequences of the collision were fatal. The driver and passenger of the Renault Duster car received injuries incompatible with life, they died at the scene before the arrival of doctors, the press service of the courts of the Kursk region said.

During the trial, the driver of the truck categorically denied guilt and insisted on his acquittal. However, the court found him guilty under Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (a traffic violation that resulted in the death of two persons). The punishment is set in the form of 3 years of a colony-settlement with a ban on transport management for a period of 2 years.
