In Lipetsk, a 21-year-old local resident is accused of knowingly false denunciation after a statement about theft of a car he sold a few months earlier. The criminal case was sent to court, the prosecutor's office of the region reported.
In February 2026, the young man sold the VAZ-2114, but did not remove the car from the traffic police. In May, he began to receive notices of administrative fines for violations committed by the new owner of the car.
Instead of informing the State Traffic Inspectorate about the sale of the car and appealing the decisions for violations to which he had no relation, the Lipchan appealed to the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a statement about theft.
Now his actions are considered in the criminal case under part 1 of article 306 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation – knowingly false denunciation. The deputy prosecutor of the Left Bank district of Lipetsk approved the indictment and sent the materials to the court.
This article provides for a sentence of up to two years in prison. The final decision in the case will be made by the court.
