According to the investigation, on September 12 this year, an 11-year-old boy from Mogilev received a call from a false employee of the Investigative Committee. During the conversation, he asked if the parents kept money at home, and said that it should be “checked”. When the child refused, threats followed: the parents would allegedly be imprisoned, and the teenager himself would be given to an orphanage. The frightened schoolboy said that there are two safes in the apartment, but he does not know the passwords.

Then the attacker called back via video link and in real time began to instruct the child how to open the locks without knowing the code. The first safe was opened quickly, but the coins of the employee were not interested. With the second safe had to tinker for several hours. It turned out to be $7,500. Later it turned out that the boy’s father saved up for the purchase of a car.

The fraudster said a courier would come for the money. The schoolboy handed over a bag of currency to a 20-year-old girl. She, in turn, took the money to the Minsk district and left it in a cache. The boy did not tell his parents about the incident. His father found him missing two days later when he was going to get his car.

During the inspection, it was established that the female courier was also a victim of deception. She was “recruited” by the Department of Financial Investigations. She wrote a statement and carried out their tasks without realizing that she was involved in a criminal scheme.

The Mogilev Interdistrict Department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 209 (fraud committed on a large scale) of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the commission of the crime.
