In St. Petersburg detained a group of extortionists for beating money with threats
The FSB of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Regardie, suppressed the activities of a group suspected of extortion. According to the security forces, the defendants threatened the victims with violence, used force and exerted pressure on them to receive other people’s money, the FSB of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region reported.

The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Admiralty district opened a criminal case under paragraph "b" of part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - extortion. This part of the article provides for liability for a crime committed on an especially large scale.
Suspects have been arrested. Now the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved, investigative actions and operational-search measures are continuing.
Earlier in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region stopped the activities of the group that organized the channel of illegal migration.
