In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a fire in an apartment building on Hospital Street claimed the life of a 57-year-old man. This was reported in the EMERCOM in the Sakhalin region.

The fire occurred on October 14 in an apartment on the second floor of a five-storey building. The fire engulfed furniture and household items on an area of 20 square meters.

At the scene arrived 19 rescuers and five pieces of equipment. In a smoky apartment, firefighters found a mobile owner of housing, took him outside and handed him over to doctors. However, the man could not be saved.

From the neighboring apartments, the Emergencies Ministry removed seven residents, including two children. Another 20 people left the building before the rescue operation was completed.

On the fact of the death of the man, the regional department of the Investigative Committee organized a pre-investigation check. A forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators are also investigating the circumstances of the fire.

The man opened fire on the participants of the mourning ceremony in memory of the politician and killed four people.
