Kostroma regional court put an end to the resonant criminal case of robbery in the village of Varakinsky, Sharyin district

The Kostroma Regional Court put an end to the resonant criminal case of a robbery in the village of Varakinsky, Sharya district. The sentence against three local residents came into force.
The judicial board on criminal cases with the participation of a representative of the regional prosecutor's office considered an appeal against the decision of the Sharyinsky district court. In the dock were two brothers born in 2002 and 2005 and their 34-year-old friend.
The court found that in December 2024, the accomplices entered into a criminal conspiracy for the purpose of profit. Under a minor pretext, they demanded that a fellow villager give them money, a vehicle and personal documents. Having been refused, the attackers struck the man on the head and body, forcibly placed him in a Niva car and took him to a residential house. The victim managed to escape, and the criminals were detained by officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB of Russia in the Kostroma region, according to the relatives of the victim.
The defendants were held under Articles 2 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery committed by a group of persons by prior agreement) and Part 2 of Article 325 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft of documents). They did not admit guilt, but compensated for moral damage to the victim in the amount of 50 thousand rubles.
The Sharya district court appointed each of the participants of the group 5 years and 1 month of a strict regime colony. Attempts by lawyers to appeal the verdict and to obtain acquittal of the defendants failed: the regional court recognized the imposed punishment fair and proportionate to the offense.
