Employees of the regional department of the Federal Security Service successfully suppressed the illegal activities of an active member of an interregional organized criminal group specializing in trafficking in prohibited substances. During the complex of operational-search measures, it was established that the head of one of the Moscow commercial firms actually performed the functions of a courier in the drug chain.
Acting in strict accordance with the instructions of the organizer, the suspect took a batch of synthetic drugs with a total weight of more than three kilograms from the equipped cache. After that, it attempted to transport the seized banned substances outside the Smolensk region, planning their further contactless marketing in the territories of neighboring regions. To coordinate their actions and maintain the conspiracy, members of the criminal group used closed chats in the Telegram messenger, but this did not prevent law enforcement agencies from timely tracking their movements and preparing a detention operation.
Immediately at the time of committing illegal actions, the offender was detained with red-handed FSB officers. According to the results of the materials collected during the operational development, the investigative department of the FSB of Russia in the Smolensk region opened a criminal case. The actions of the defendant are qualified under part 3 of Article 30 and part 5 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which implies an attempt on illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs. The sanction of this article provides for the most severe punishment of life imprisonment.
