In Ulan-Ude, a 36-year-old local resident was sentenced to six months of imprisonment for purchasing and using a fake driver’s license. This was reported in the prosecutor's office of the Republic.
The court found that in June 2024, the man through the Internet bought a fake driver’s license from an unknown person to get the opportunity to drive a car. In August 2026, he was stopped by traffic police officers during a trip around the city. When checking the documents, he presented a fake ID.
During the investigation, the man explained that because of employment he decided to obtain a driver’s license illegally for a monetary reward.
The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, found him guilty of “acquisition, storage for the purpose of using and use of a knowingly forged official document”. The sentence has entered into force.
