In Ulan-Ude, the driver of the BMW X7 was sentenced to 5 years in prison for a fatal accident

In the capital of Buryatia, the court sentenced a local resident to 5 years and 4 months in prison for hitting a pedestrian with a fatal outcome and leaving the scene of an accident. This was reported in the prosecutor's office of the Republic.

According to the materials of the case, on the night of May 29, 2026, a man driving a BMW X7 was driving along Botanical Street with speeding. He hit a man on a pedestrian crossing, who died on the spot from his injuries. After the incident, the driver fled without helping the victim and without calling emergency services.

Taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, the man was sentenced to imprisonment for 5 years and 4 months with serving in a colony-settlement. He was also deprived of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 2 years and 8 months.

The sentence has not yet entered into force.
