In Volgograd sentenced the man who killed a taxi driver in 1992
More than 30 years after the crime, the Voroshilov District Court of Volgograd pronounced the verdict on a 52-year-old local resident who killed a taxi driver in 1992, not wanting to pay fares. This is reported by the joint press service of the courts of the Volgograd region.

According to the case file, on July 6, 1992, the defendant got into a VAZ-21011 car at one of the stops in the Kirov district. On the way, the driver called the cost of the trip, but the amount did not suit the passenger, and a conflict arose between the men. Wanting to avoid payment, the man stabbed the driver in the neck. After being injured, the victim stopped the car, left the cabin and fell on the roadway, where he died from acute blood loss. The perpetrator fled the scene, dropping his flip-flops while fleeing.
The crime committed three decades ago was solved thanks to molecular genetic examination. In the interior of the car were found fingerprints and shoes dropped by the killer. A database check confirmed the tracks belonged to the 52-year-old defendant.
In court, the man pleaded not guilty. He stated that the deceased allegedly threatened him with a knife, demanding payment, and he only tried to knock the weapon out of the hands of the attacker. However, after examining the materials of the case, the court concluded that the defendant was guilty. The man was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "a" of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (intentional murder under aggravated circumstances). He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with serving in a general regime correctional colony. The sentence has not entered into force and can be appealed.
