The Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan has appointed an additional psychological and psychiatric examination of a citizen of Turkey and Germany Etzfela Mete on charges of murder of his wife and attempt on the life of their son, Tatar-inform reports.
The lawyer insisted on a re-examination at the Serbian Medical Center for Psychiatry and Narcology in Moscow, citing the fact that the primary examination did not answer the question whether the defendant was then in a state of affect.
The State Prosecutor did not agree with the re-examination, clarifying the differences between additional and repeated examination: it is prescribed if there is insufficient clarity or completeness of the conclusion, and repeated if there are doubts and contradictions in the conclusions. Experts were unable to assess Etzfela Mete's emotional state at the time of the murder, due to the lack of subjective data. Here there is a lack of completeness of primary detention, said the state prosecutor Alsu Khabibullina.
She proposed to put before the experts only one question - about the state of affect. The court partially satisfied the lawyer's requests for examination. Additional expertise was entrusted to the same specialists - doctors of the Bekhterev RKB in Kazan.
Recall, on May 24, 2025, in front of the young son of Etzfel, Mete cut his wife’s throat, the child was wounded in the back of the head. Elena's body was found by her sister. On the same day, the wife of the deceased was detained after threatening to kill herself.
It turned out that he met his future wife several years ago in Turkey, together they moved to Germany, then Elena fled with her son to Kazan, where she worked as a head and coach of a sports school.
When the tragedy occurred, Elena and Mete were in divorce. In addition to his son Elena, he has two children who live with his first wife in Germany.
