Thief-forkman caught by police in a resort Russian city

Police detained a 54-year-old resident of Krasnodar, a suspect in a series of apartment thefts. According to the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the man committed 14 thefts in the Seversky, Slavyansky, Ust-Labinsky districts and in the Hot Key.

The attacker acted according to a well-established scheme. He chose apartments on the ground floors, pressed window frames and penetrated inside. He took money and jewelry from the houses, and then left the scene of the crime through the window.

To uncover a series of thefts helped the attention of the local resident. The man heard a suspicious noise, went outside and noticed a stranger jumping out of the window with a package. The neighbor followed him and filmed what was happening on the phone. These footage became the key evidence, on which operatives identified the suspect.

The man was detained at the place of residence. During a search in his apartment, a cache was found under the sink, where the stolen jewelry was stored. The total damage to the victims was estimated at 2.5 million rubles. A criminal case has been opened against the detainee, he faces up to six years in prison. He is now in custody.
