The Voronezh Regional Court confirmed the verdict of the master, through whose fault three people died in the fire

The Voronezh regional court considered the appeal of a 63-year-old resident of the region, convicted for the death of three workers in a fire in the production shop. This was reported in the press service of the court.

The incident occurred in April 2024 in the Kominternovsky district of Voronezh. The man was dismantling the ventilation shaft using a gas cutter with an oxygen-propane mixture. The open flame ignited the dust and paint accumulated on the walls of the channel, as well as the ceiling insulation. The fire led to the death of three workers – they died on the spot from poisoning by combustion products.

The Kominternovsky district court found the man guilty under Part 3 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence to two or more persons) and appointed him two years of a colony-settlement.

The convict tried to challenge the decision, insisting on commutation of punishment. However, the judicial board for criminal cases of the Voronezh Regional Court, having listened to the position of the prosecutor's office, considered the evidence collected by the prosecution convincing, and the verdict fair. The verdict of the first instance remained in force, the complaint was rejected.
