A resident of the Kursk region “earned” a suspended sentence for the storage of three grenades

In the Kursk region, the Lgov interdistrict prosecutor’s office has secured a conviction against a local resident who illegally stored explosive devices. The man was found guilty under part 1 of article 222.1 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation.

As it was established during the trial, in March 2026, a Kuryan while walking through one of the settlements of the Lgov district found three hand shrapnel grenades, as well as fuses to them. Instead of handing over the dangerous find to law enforcement officers, the man moved the ammunition to his home, where he stored them until June 2026.

The grenades were later found and seized by police.

As a result, the court gave a lover of dangerous items 2 years of suspended imprisonment with a probation period of 2 years. In addition, the convict is obliged to pay a fine of 10 thousand rubles.

- Remind me of the safety rules. If grenades, ammunition or other explosive objects are found, it is strictly forbidden to touch, lift or carry them. It is necessary to move to a safe distance and immediately report the find to law enforcement agencies on a single number 112, the prosecutor's office of the Kursk region said.
