In Pyatigorsk, a 40-year-old local resident became a victim of remote fraud

In Pyatigorsk, a 40-year-old local resident became a victim of remote fraud. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The victim told police that he was looking for options to buy a car online, and he got a call from a girl who introduced herself as the manager of a car selection company. She offered favorable conditions for the delivery of the crossover from a Japanese auction.
The man double-checked the information on the company’s website, where he was confirmed that such an employee really works in the organization, after which he agreed to the deal.
Later, in one of the messengers, the “manager” requested passport data for drawing up the contract and persuaded to make the first payment for participation in the auction in the amount of 50 thousand rubles.
The next day, the buyer was informed about the successful purchase of the car at auction for 914 thousand rubles.
After that, at the direction of the caller, the applicant registered a crypto wallet, purchased a cryptocurrency and transferred it to the provided virtual address. A few days later, under the pretext of paying for customs clearance and transportation, the attackers received another 707 thousand rubles from him in the same way.
In September, the victim received a call from a man who introduced himself as the new handler of the deal. He said that the car was allegedly detained at the customs post due to the inconsistency of the environmental class of the exhaust system and an additional payment is required to resolve the issue. Then the man transferred another 180 thousand rubles to the details of a third-party commercial organization.
But the delivery time has expired, and the “managers” stopped communicating. And then the victim found on the Internet a lot of negative reviews about the company and realized that he was a victim of fraud. The total amount of damage was about 2 million rubles.
Earlier it was reported that in Vladikavkaz opened a case on the theft of more than 1 million rubles when receiving child benefits.
