In the Khostinsky district, a woman became a victim of Internet fraudsters who offered her a remote part-time job for performing simple actions in social networks. The victim was promised income for likes and comments, but instead of earnings, she transferred to the attackers 84 thousand rubles. In fact, the police opened a criminal case.
According to law enforcement agencies, unknown suggested the composition to perform simple tasks on the Internet. In the personal account of the user, charges were displayed that created the impression of successful earnings. However, when trying to withdraw money, difficulties arose, and access to funds was limited.
After blocking the account, representatives of the service informed the woman about the need to make an additional payment. First, the victim was persuaded to transfer 70 thousand rubles, allegedly necessary to unlock the accumulated income. Later, the fraudsters demanded another 14 thousand rubles under the pretext of paying a commission for conducting a financial transaction.
The woman fulfilled the requirements, but the promised money to her bank account never arrived. After receiving the transfers, the alleged manager stopped communicating. Realizing that she was a victim of fraud, the composition appealed to law enforcement agencies. On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Police in Sochi warn that offers of quick earnings with mandatory advance payments may indicate a fraudulent scheme. Particularly suspicious are the requirements to pay for unlocking an account, a fee for withdrawing funds or confirming identity by transferring money. Law enforcers recommend not to transfer funds to unknown persons and check information about employers before starting cooperation.
