A resident of Chaplygin was sent to 5 years in prison for scams with goods on the marketplace

Chaplyginsky district court of the Lipetsk region sentenced a 38-year-old local resident accused of a series of fraudulent schemes.

The woman was found guilty of attempted fraud on a large scale and two episodes of fraud that caused significant damage to the victims. This was reported in the joint press service of the judicial system of the region.

As established by the investigation, in August 2025, the defendant through the messenger came to his familiar with the tempting offer – to purchase goods on the marketplace “Wildberry” with a discount of 50 to 70 percent. Over time, other citizens received similar proposals. Trusting buyers gave the woman a total of 220.6 thousand rubles, but the promised purchases were not waited for: she disposed of the funds received at her own discretion, initially not planning to fulfill her obligations to purchase and deliver goods.

In imposing the sentence, the court applied the principle of partial addition with the punishment of the previous sentence. As a result, according to the set of crimes, the convict was sentenced to five years of imprisonment with serving in a general regime correctional colony. In addition, the woman’s mobile phone was confiscated and turned into the state’s income – the tool with which the scams were committed is alienated in favor of the treasury.

Separately, it is noted that the defendant had previously come to the attention of law enforcement officers: behind her already have convictions for theft and fraud. The current sentence is a continuation of the criminal biography, and the sentence is one of the most severe in the practice of the district court in cases of remote deception of citizens.
