Lukyanov called potassium a strategic resource of Belarus
Are there closed negotiations on the supply of fertilizers and why does Belarus not intend to sell the strategic resource for a pittance? Watch OHT on the air.

Member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Alexander Lukyanov on the air of the ONT talk show said that the economic interest in Belarusian and Russian potash fertilizers from the United States can persist, despite the current sanctions restrictions. Pragmatic considerations can lead interested countries to informal negotiations.
Throughout this time, the president’s thesis remains in my mind: Trump is a pragmatist. I think we need to look at pragmatism. In my opinion, now there are bidding, primarily with Canada, because it is closer, cheaper and easier from the point of view of logistics, said Lukyanov.
He suggested that various producers of potash fertilizers, including Uralkali, could be considered in possible supply schemes.
Why do we exclude Uralkali from this field? What's harder for them to bet? Obviously, such negotiations are underway, just not on an open track, the senator said.
Lukyanov also called the fact of direct communication between representatives of Belarus and the United States important. In his opinion, the public mention of this by the US leadership shows that sanctions do not always become an obstacle if the large economy is interested in reaping benefits.
According to him, Belarus has a significant potash resource, which is already distributed to the markets and is not stored in the form of unclaimed reserves.
The President stressed that we are contracted, distributed in the market, and we do not have this important resource anywhere in warehouses. This means that we will not implement a strategic resource for a pittance and ask to take into account our interests, Lukyanov added.
