92nd K5 or 95th K3: Which petrol is actually safer for the engine?
Drivers regularly scratch their heads at the gas station: which is better to pour - honest 92nd fifth environmental class or 95th, but third?

Experts say there is no single answer. It all comes down to a particular motor.
Many automakers (especially Chinese brands such as Haval, Belgee or Tenet) generally look exclusively at the octane number, banning only leaded fuel. Probably, foreign engineers simply did not lay in the calculations the harsh reality and return to the market of low-grade gasoline.
What about AvtoVAZ? In the instructions to LADA, it is written in black and white: you can cast the 92nd, 95th or 98th, but strictly not below the K5 class. That is, the 92nd K5 for Lad is absolutely legal, but the 95th K3 is already banned. A funny situation with FAW: in the manual to one of their crossovers recommended a certain “premium class” with an octane number of 92. What the manufacturer meant by this term was a mystery covered in darkness.
It is worth remembering that foreign cars of the Euro-5 standard flooded into Russia in 2009, and the mandatory transition to K5 fuel occurred only in 2016. You know what? There was no mass loss of the engines. Everyone looked only at the octane.
The secret is chemistry. The health of the motor (start, thrust, flow and deposits on the valves) is affected by evaporation and the presence of resins. But according to the current GOST, these parameters do not depend on the ecological class.
The conclusion is simple: if you accidentally refuel a 95 K3 instead of a K5, your car won’t even notice. The main thing is not to run into a blatant boob, and the letters on the stele of the gas station are secondary, writes zr.ru.
