Installing covers on the seats of a modern car can be considered an interference with the safety system. This writes the portal “AutoVzglyad”.

Covers remain one of the most massive “alterations” of the car: they are worn to preserve the factory upholstery of the seats. However, for machines equipped with airbags, this solution has significant drawbacks.

Experts highlight several important points. Universal covers are poorly fixed: they slide and deform, and it is almost impossible to secure them. Installation of quality products requires removal of seats and takes a long time, despite the assurances of sellers to the contrary.

The main risk is related to security. In the seats of modern cars, a side airbag is built into the upper part of the back, which is warned by the SRS label. To achieve that the cover worked synchronously with the pillow, it is impossible. Despite claims of special slits and weakened threads, no real tests of such products have been carried out.

Thus, the cover is able to prevent the correct opening of the airbag. For a car equipped with a wide range of pillows, the installation of covers is an ill-considered decision: the seat must remain in factory form so that the system can fully protect the driver and passengers.
