The fight against shadow employment and new social guarantees. Belarus is preparing a large-scale update of the Labor Code

Today, on September 14, at the expert council of the Council of the Republic, the draft law “On changing laws on labor and related relations” was considered. It amends 12 laws and 137 articles of the Labor Code. About the alleged innovations journalists told the Chairman of the Standing Commission on education, science, culture and social development of the Council of the Republic Natalia Pavlyuchenko, writes sb.by.

- We need to ensure that the economy is provided with personnel and at the same time develop social guarantees of our citizens in the framework of labor relations. Therefore, the bill is very important and necessary. It was included in the drafting plan and worked out with a very wide range of stakeholders - more than 40 bodies participated in its creation and coordination.

According to Natalia Pavlyuchenko, innovations relate to various areas and are related to the practice of applying the legislation:

- This includes countering shadow employment and strengthening social guarantees, in particular for certain categories of citizens, for example, families raising children with disabilities, working people with disabilities. Flexible forms of labor relations, which are in great demand today, because a new young generation is coming to the labor market. The institution of mentoring is widely spread - a number of guarantees are fixed in collective agreements. But until now, there was no fixed term “mentorship” at the level of legislation.

The bill is generally supported, it is very important and timely. It has already been worked out quite well.
