The road checkpoint "Kamenny Log" on the border of Belarus with Lithuania is waiting for reconstruction. About what changes are coming, said Viktor Zubik, head of the main department of the organization of customs control of the State Customs Committee. He presented the information during the press conference “Economic shield of the country: reliable protection and new borders of the customs service”, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the customs service of Belarus.
Reconstruction starts this year and will be completed in stages until 2029. There will be additional lanes for transport across the border. As the head of the State Customs Committee noted, over the past years, the customs service has come a significant way and has approached the 35th anniversary in the status of a high-tech digital department. In total, there are 26 road checkpoints in the republic with a total capacity of 32 thousand cars per day and 13 railway points. A lot of work has been done to improve the infrastructure: technical tools and software packages are being introduced, allowing to perform tasks qualitatively. Over the past five years alone, 12 checkpoints have been reconstructed, including Berestovica, and modern equipment is being actively introduced.
Special attention is paid to creating comfortable conditions in waiting areas. For passenger transport, remote registration is possible. In addition, from January 1 of this year for cars, and from April 1 for trucks launched a service booking the date of crossing the border. According to Victor Zubik, it is in demand.
Electronic declaration and electronic document management, automatic issuance of customs documents and declarations for goods without human participation are widely used.
