Russian social networks are actively spreading alarming rumors that on October 15 retail chains will lose a significant part of the usual range. However, representatives of retail urge not to panic: no shortage is expected, we are talking only about the planned renewal of shelves.

What products really leave the windows? First of all, these are seasonal positions, whose time has expired: summer fruits and berries, certain types of imported cheeses, delicacies, some brands of drinks and ready-made salads. Also, certain seafood may disappear from the sale from small suppliers who have curtailed cooperation with networks. The reasons are prosaic: the end of the season, the change in logistics or the commercial policy of retailers. There are no administrative prohibitions.

October is the traditional time to review the commodity matrix. Summer groups give way to autumn-winter. However, the disappearance of most products is temporary: next year they will return, perhaps under other brands. Only specific brands of companies that have finally left the market disappear forever, but these are point cases that do not affect entire categories.

What do buyers do? Experts categorically do not recommend rush purchases. The limited shelf life makes the creation of huge stocks pointless. In addition, retailers often lower prices for outgoing positions to sell off leftovers, while new counterparts can cost more. A reasonable strategy is simply to replenish the basic stocks of long-term storage products: cereals, canned food, tea and coffee, which will always be useful in the household.
