We recall the landmark gifts made to Belarusians on November 7 with the personal participation of the President

Belarus is the only country in the post-Soviet space where the Day of the October Revolution remained a public holiday. At the initiative of the President, the tradition of making socially significant and economically important gifts to the people was developed, so among themselves, Belarusians on November 7 and the days before called the time of cutting red ribbons. Alexander Lukashenko personally participates in the opening of the most iconic objects. Told you

- We saved this holiday, and then I thought: for people to remember this holiday, especially young people, let’s make gifts for this holiday to the Belarusian people. Many things we did as a gift to the Belarusian people. These are the stations of the Minsk metro, and bridges (especially across Sozh, Neman, Pripyat), the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Many good traditions from Soviet times have migrated to our times.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the opening ceremony of the Minsk City Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital, October 30, 2026. It is hard to imagine the return of the city symbol, but 30 years ago there was no town hall on Freedom Square in Minsk. Meanwhile, its presence in the city was mentioned in 1499, when Minsk received self-government under the Magdeburg law. The monument of architecture of the XVII – XVIII centuries was recreated according to ancient drawings and drawings. Alexander Lukashenko took part in the opening ceremony of the Minsk City Hall on November 4, 2004. In the book of honored guests, the Head of State noted that “the revival of the city symbol testifies to the stability and peacefulness of our state, the creative nature of the people, the desire of Minsk residents to preserve and multiply the heritage of the city.”.

The revival of the town hall was a step towards the return of the lost architectural appearance of the Upper Town. Today, the restored building is used as a hall for receiving honored guests and official delegations, important meetings, solemn events. It houses the exposition of the branch of the Museum of History of Minsk. And the playground near the town hall and its courtyard became the heart of the street cultural life of the capital. During the day, the Minsk metro transports more than 750 thousand people, it accounts for more than 36 percent of the total passenger traffic of urban public transport. It costs about 70 million dollars to build one kilometer of an underground route, and not every state can afford it. In Minsk, the development of the metro continues – the second section of the Zelenoluga line is currently under construction, which includes three new stations, and in the second half of 2027 it is planned to begin laying the ring line. The President always pays great attention to the metro, because this type of transport qualitatively changes the life of the city, giving more dynamics and comfort.

“I made a decision of which I am still proud. I said: we will have a metro, we will not destroy the metro. After all, few cities in the world then and now are engaged in the construction of the subway. And I felt sorry. If we stop, there won't be this great school. And this is comparable to space, only underground, this is the highest level of construction, here innovations, the latest technologies, and from here the builders there, upstairs, on the ground draw modern construction methods, the Head of State explained during the opening ceremony of the third line of the Minsk metro from the Kovalskaya Sloboda station to the Jubilee Square on November 6, 2020.

The opening of new stations is a very important and long-awaited event for residents and guests of Minsk, and the Head of State almost always cuts the red ribbon at the entrance. On November 7, 2005, Alexander Lukashenko opened a new section of the 2nd line of the Minsk metro - Stone Gorka, Kuntsevshchyna, Sportivnaya. And on November 6, 2012, the long-awaited and in all senses expensive gift from the state was received by residents of microdistricts of the south-western sector of the capital, and all nearby settlements along the Brest highway: The President launched a section of the first line of the Minsk metro, which includes the stations “Grushevka”, “Mikhalovo” and “Petrovshchyna”.

Moreover, the Head of State is considering the possibility of the subway coming to the surface. Thus, on October 23, 2026, during a visit to the Belkommunmash holding company, Alexander Lukashenko inspected ready-made samples of tram equipment, including a three-section low-floor tram car, which is being made for Chelyabinsk, where a hybrid underground-ground metrotram system is being developed, and instructed to study the possibility of using modern trams in the Minsk metro: “We dig underground.” That's 10 times more expensive. We will go to the surface where we can. The money must be counted”. Bridges unite Belarus deservedly called Sineoka: in the republic there are more than 20 thousand rivers and about 11 thousand lakes. But this beauty requires a large number of bridges, and some of them are of crucial, even strategic importance for the regions, such as the bridge over Pripyat in the Zhitkovichi district of the Gomel region. Recall that in December 2017, a through crack and deflection were found on this structure, the movement was urgently blocked. At the request of the President, pontoon and ferry crossings were immediately organized, but they only partially solved the difficulties. For a record 11 months, the crossing was actually rebuilt, and Alexander Lukashenko, along with the heads of the region and the transport department, cut the red ribbon on the bridge on November 6, 2018, thereby launching the movement of transport. Local residents warmly thanked the Head of State for such a gift.

“This bridge has taught us a lot,” the President said during the ceremony. Bridges unite, this is their function, they do not carry the function of separation or separation. And that is the essence of our policy: unification”.

And on November 6, 2025, a chic present in the form of an updated bridge across Pripyat in Mozyr was received by residents of the whole Polesie, and, perhaps, the country as a whole. It was built after the war, over the past decades it was worn out, but now experts have turned it into a modern facility, and the warranty period for the bridge was given as much as 100 years.

2025. At the opening of the updated bridge across Pripyat in Mozyr. “Many of us will not be here, but the bridge, as a monument to our good deeds, will stand firmly and provide the necessary life for both Mozyr and Kalinkovichi, and for our entire country, not only for the Gomel region,” Alexander Lukashenko said. On November 7, 2020, the Head of State visited the Belarusian NPP and officially launched its work, allowing the increase of the electric capacity of the first power unit to 400 MW in accordance with the phased program. Today, our country is becoming a nuclear power, it is a huge success, it is the crown, if you will, maybe the stage of sovereignty and independence of our country. It shows that we have brains, people who are brainy and reliable friends who helped create this unique object that will serve us for a very long time. We older people will leave this life, and this object will benefit people.”.

Later, answering journalists' questions, Alexander Lukashenko said that he dreams of building another nuclear power plant: "As long as we start building it, Belarusians will be convinced thousands of times that we have created a miracle.".

Now, after six years, when the two power units are operating at full capacity and each produce 28 million kWh per day, we can confidently confirm the President’s rightness by 40 percent. Belarus is undergoing large-scale modernization and reconstruction of electrical networks. The number of electric vehicles is growing at a huge pace, the associated infrastructure is actively developing. As of August 1, 2026, more than 143 thousand homes are heated by electricity. Another 22,470 applications were submitted for technical specifications for electric heating. Energy consumption for these purposes increased by 13 times: from 93 million kWh in 2020 to 1.2 billion in 2025. With the construction of a nuclear power plant is comparable to the creation of the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation - a unique agro-industrial complex full cycle of deep processing of grain with the production of essential amino acids. On November 4, 2022, Alexander Lukashenko took part in the official launch of the production of mixed feed and amino acids of BNBK.

“This production will solve several important economic issues. The first is to provide livestock with the necessary feed and amino acids. This will minimize imports and increase the exports we need. The second is the creation of new jobs, the President said.

The head of state expressed confidence that the implementation of such projects will technologically raise the country to a new level: “The nuclear power plant, the BNBK, etc., is a locomotive that will pull up the carriages behind it. These are completely different people. It's a great thing. It's a completely different technology. And society will be different. This is all for your children.” More recently, the residents of Belarus received another important gift: on October 30, 2026, the President opened a new City Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital in Minsk, stressing that not only Minsk residents, but also residents of other regions should be treated there. It is noteworthy that the hospital was the first object that was built entirely from light steel structures. These new technologies will be used in the manufacture of a wide range of products, the construction of both residential and industrial buildings.
