Today, October 15, the Supreme Court held a solemn ceremony of swearing in judges appointed to office for the first time. They were sworn in by Supreme Court Chairman Andrei Shved, writes sb.by.

Greeting the judges, Andrei Shved congratulated them and said that entering the judicial post is the pinnacle of legal skill.
- You, dear colleagues, have passed a serious selection, which means that you should not doubt your professionalism, he said. Young judges are appointed by presidential decree. This is the highest confidence of the Head of State. Taking the oath here, in the building of the Supreme Court – the temple of Belarusian justice – you took the responsibility to be guided by the Constitution, laws and the code of honor.
Judges have a serious responsibility to the people and the state. But the law alone does not deliver justice. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court cited a mandatory element that no one would teach, but without it there would be no fair solution:
- In the Belarusian language there is such a word “people”. I wish you, guided by the law, to make a verdict according to conscience, to listen to people, to show humanity. If the decision failed to satisfy both parties, they should at least understand why the judge did so, maybe there are other ways to resolve the dispute.
It is also important for the judicial system that judges, by the decision of the President, are independent and independent in their decisions. This once again underlines the trust of the people and the Head of State. Denis Korda, a judge of the Leninsky district of Grodno, assured that he and his colleagues would work daily to strengthen the authority of the judiciary:
- A judge has no right to make a mistake, which means that he has no right to stop developing professional skills. We promise to be just, never to lose the most important thing – humanity. Let us remember that human destiny lies behind every decision.
Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic on Legislation and State Building Mikhail Rusy, congratulating the young judges, noted their role in the legislative system of the country:
- When drafting bills, it is important to hear your opinion. So we'll still be meeting on the sidelines of the sessions.
In addition, Mikhail Rusy added that in the era of the rule of artificial intelligence, a soulless machine will not exactly replace the profession of a judge. Andrey Shved agreed with his words, explaining the reasons for the timeless relevance of the judicial case:
- Artificial intelligence can process information, tell you where to look for a particular normative legal act, but it cannot analyze the situation, digging deep into human destinies. So this is good help, but not a substitute for a real fair judge.
