A 42-year-old previously repeatedly convicted citizen, who evaded payment of alimony for the maintenance of a minor son, told the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti” in the Prosecutor’s office of Pervomaysky district.
The accused has a 7-year-old son, who after the divorce of his parents lives with his mother. According to the court decision, from August 2019, the defendant must pay alimony in favor of the former spouse.
Since the man did not officially work anywhere for a long time, he did not transfer money for the maintenance of the child, for which he was repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility.
Employees of the enforcement department repeatedly tried to reason with him, but their father did not attach any importance to their words. As a result, another criminal case was opened against him.
Guilt in the court hearing defendant admitted partially. He claimed that he allegedly could not find a job due to poor health, so he did not pay alimony. By the way, in June 2026 the debt amounted to more than 10 thousand BYN.
- The accused is currently not officially employed anywhere, has previously been brought to criminal responsibility four times, three of which are for similar crimes, said Yulia Lugovskaya, senior assistant prosecutor of the Pervomaysky district, who acted as the state prosecutor in this criminal case. The court found him guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 174 of the Criminal Code ("avoidance of parents from the maintenance of children or from reimbursement of expenses spent by the state for the maintenance of children who are or were on state support"), and imposed a punishment of two years of restriction of freedom without sending them to an open-type correctional institution. In addition, the accused must undergo compulsory treatment for chronic alcoholism.
