Petersburgers advised to register online to protect against overbooking

Russian airlines are not allowed to remove passengers from a flight if they have already bought tickets. Overbooking seats on board is considered a violation of the law, said in argumenti.ru.

Experts Artem Grebeniuk and Vladimir Popov said that the best protection against this problem is early online registration. Carriers often do not let on board those who check in at the last minute. If there is still not enough space on the plane, you need to immediately demand an official certificate of refusal from the counter and do not sign documents on the “voluntary” consent to fly later.

In such a situation, the passenger is obliged to return the money for the ticket free of charge or send it on another flight. While a person is waiting for a new plane, the airline must provide him with food, water and a hotel at its own expense. Later, through the court, the company can receive fines, penalties and compensation for moral damage.
