Winter sowing of vegetables and greens: planting rules, timing and choice of crops from the gardener Kastritsky

Autumn is the time to look ahead and think about the future harvest. Until the ground is caught by frost, you can lay the foundations for an early harvest. Winter crops save time in the spring and allow you to get the first vitamins earlier than usual. The green will grow as soon as the snow falls. What crops to sow right now, will tell our folk gardener.

The seeds of many vegetable crops are not afraid of cold weather, so they can be sown in the winter. But there's no rush. If the soil is still warm, the seeds can germinate, seedlings will appear, and then these shoots will die from frost. You need to start at the earliest possible time before the onset of stable cold. The soil temperature should be low - no more than 5 degrees Celsius.

In addition to the usual crops - winter onions or garlic, in winter you can sow other vegetable crops. Like carrots. When sowing carrots in winter, it is possible to get a very early harvest already in June.

You can also sow beets in winter. This can be done in open ground, not necessarily in a greenhouse. But if you have a greenhouse, you can, of course, sow these crops in the greenhouse - the harvest will be even earlier.

In the greenhouse, by the way, you can sow various green crops for a very early harvest in April. You can sow dill, spinach, salad, as well as radish. All of them will give a very early harvest, which will form before planting the main crops in the greenhouse, such as tomatoes, peppers and eggplant.

Also in winter you can sow onions on a feather. To do this, choose large bulbs - they make a lot of greenery. Onions can be planted both in open ground and in a greenhouse.

If you sow various green crops, such as lettuce, spinach, dill, it is not necessary to fill the soil with fertilizers in the greenhouse. The main crops grew in the greenhouse: tomatoes, peppers and so on, and we introduced various fertilizers, both mineral and organic, throughout the season. There will be plenty of food for the green here.
