Drunk driving does not stop: in the Pskov region detained another violator, ignoring the law

Despite harsh laws and tragic statistics, drivers who got behind the wheel while drunk continue to pose a mortal danger on the roads of Pskov region. Over the past day, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the region detained several fans of “drunk driving”, some of whom were previously prosecuted for similar offences.
In the evening of October 21, in the village of Seredka, Pskov district, traffic police inspectors stopped the VAZ-2107 car. The driver was a 32-year-old local resident with obvious signs of alcohol intoxication.
In the afternoon of October 22, on General Margelov Street in Pskov, a 44-year-old driver of a Skoda car, also under a degree, was detained.
On the same day, October 22, in the village of Dedovici, police found a drunk driver behind the wheel of Mitsubishi.
In all cases, the vehicles were seized, and the circumstances of the incident are clarified.
Many drivers mistakenly interpret the threshold of 0.16 ppm (milligrams per liter of exhaled air) as permission to drink a glass of wine before the trip. The State Traffic Inspectorate warns that this figure is set solely for the error of measuring instruments, so as not to punish the innocent. Any use of alcohol before the trip is unacceptable.
In addition, refusal to pass a medical examination by law is equivalent to driving while intoxicated. The punishment in this case will be just as severe.
For a primary violation, the driver faces an administrative fine of 45,000 rubles and deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years. This rule applies even if a sober driver simply swapped seats with a drunk passenger. To regain the rights, the infringer will have to re-take the theoretical exam and fully repay all fines.
If the driver gets drunk again within a year, the case goes from administrative to criminal (Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code). The punishment is toughened many times: a fine from 200 to 300 thousand rubles, or imprisonment for up to two years, with mandatory deprivation of rights for up to three years.
