Schweiba: the current events in France are the result of mistakes that have accumulated for decades

The unrest in France was caused by errors of purpose and a crisis of democracy. This opinion on the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio” expressed media expert Dmitry Shvayba, writes sb.by. According to the guest of the program, the current events in France are the result of mistakes that have accumulated for decades:

- First of all, these are goal-setting errors. One mistake creates another, and it snowballs. Secondly, these are the consequences, I will not fear this word, of the centuries-old colonial era. It responds to countries that owned vast colonies across the planet and imposed their own cultural code. And those countries and societies that have embraced it no longer think of themselves outside it, and France is no exception. This is a global mistake, the answer to which has not found any, not only French, society.

The media expert recalled that the tradition of protest in France is deeply rooted and enshrined in the law:

- One of the first revolutions took place in France. And the tradition of protest is deeply rooted in French society. Moreover, it is enshrined in the legislation. Where did the unions come from with their reaction? First, there is a legal framework, and second, institutions that can bring the masses to the streets, and absolutely legally. And most importantly, these mechanisms work so that people understand how they work.

Dmitry Shvayba drew attention to the growing socio-economic problems:

- The number of socio-economic problems that cause people to take to the streets is growing. Socio-economic progress requires resources, jobs, a certain perspective — a 50-year planning horizon. And he just doesn't exist. And the middle class is disappearing. The whole democratic system was based on a prosperous middle class.
