We found out whether the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles in Belarus can change
Can the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles in Belarus change, the chairman of the board of the Association for the Development of Electric Vehicles told the TV channel STV.

Can the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles in Belarus change, the Chairman of the Board of the Association for the Development of Electric Transport "BETA" Sergey Khudoeshko told sb.by.

Sergei Hudoeszko noted:
- We understood that the quota ends at the beginning of summer, and, unfortunately, for legal entities it ended on July 24, for individuals – on September 5. We appealed to all possible authorities that could influence this issue. Both the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the relevant ministries, the Ministry of Industry, because we understand that, on the one hand, the quota is a protective measure and support for a domestic manufacturer. But on the other hand, electric vehicles in the Belarusian market are not enough for the development of the structure, not enough for the implementation of the state program, so the quota is very necessary.
The decision on quotas is made by the Eurasian Economic Commission. Chairman of the Board of the Association for the Development of Electric Transport "BETA" noted that in July Kyrgyzstan and Armenia appealed to the EEC Council with the issue of increasing the quota for duty-free import of electric vehicles. We had an understanding that if Belarus addresses this issue at the next meeting, which took place in the first decade of August, everything will work out. We applied with an even greater initiative, an even greater flurry of letters to state bodies. We were heard, said Sergey Khudoeshko, adding that an additional quota for the fourth quarter of the year was requested at a meeting of the EEC Council in Kyrgyzstan. For some reason, a different decision was made. Maybe bye. We still hope that a positive decision will be made at the next meeting in Minsk on October 2. This is really important for our citizens.
According to Sergey Khudoeshko, obtaining an additional quota for the remainder of 2026 for duty-free import of electric cars is quite realistic, given the experience of other countries.
