Today, October 23, at a fraternal burial near the village of Zagorenka, Chaussky district of the Mogilev region, the remains of 12 soldiers and commanders of the Red Army were reburied with honor. They were raised here this fall by searchers and servicemen of the 52nd Specialized Search Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Chaus district executive committee, searchers from Minsk and Chaus, representatives of labor collectives and organizations of the district, public associations, youth, villagers, writes sb.by.

On the field search expedition to the Chaussky district in September of this year came fighters of the search group “Batskaшshchyna” from Minsk, the search team “16th Dzerzhinsky” Institute of border service of Belarus and the search group “Brotherhood” from Chaus.
Search engine group "Batskaшshchyna" Alexander Thorev said:
- Here 83 years ago – from 24 to 25 October – soldiers of the penal company and battalions of the 385th Infantry Division were performing combat missions. They had to take possession of a grove located east of the village of Sheperevo. They took the starting position - not reaching 500 meters to the enemy trench. After a short artillery preparation, the attack began. But, having met stubborn fire resistance, they lay in front of barbed wire. This is known from military documents, war logs. As well as the fact that many Red Army soldiers met their death here. The identity of the fighters we raised, alas, could not be established. But most importantly, they rested in peace today.

The Chau land here is abundantly watered with the blood of our heroes who stood here to death against the German fascist occupiers. During the Great Patriotic War on the Pronia River, the front stood for nine months, there were fierce battles. This was reminded by the Chairman of the Chaussky District Executive Committee Sergey Dorozhkin.
- Unfortunately, the search work does not always allow to return the dead soldiers their names. We bury them as unknowns. But for us, the descendants of a generation of winners, they are not faceless. Unknown soldiers have no names, but there is a great title - defenders of the Motherland, - said Sergei Dorozhkin. They sacrificed everything – youth, fate, lives, so that today we could live freely, work, raise children under a peaceful sky in independent Belarus. We will forever be grateful for them.

The remains of two more Red Army men raised during the current Memory Watch in Chausy were reburied today at a mass grave near the ROVD building. It is symbolic that the ceremony took place in the days when the liberation of the Chaussky district from the Nazi invaders began in 1943.
