In Klichev district opened an updated monument to the victims of genocide during the Great Patriotic War

In the Lesnoye tract, which is not far from the village of Poplavy, Klichevsky district, today commemorated the memory of civilians shot by the Nazis exactly 85 years ago - October 14, 1941. To pay tribute to the innocent victims of the war, representatives of the district executive committee, deputies, law enforcement officers, labor veterans, youth, local residents arrived. The monument on the grave of women, children, old people shot by the Nazis was updated this year, light plates with names were installed at its foot.

Mania Glykina, Slava Gelfand, Olga Gosina, Leia Katsnelson, Sonya Rosenberg, Naum Sosonkin, Semyon Trilesnik ... 196 names were returned from oblivion to the Klichevites thanks to painstaking archival and research work. And the fascists brutally tortured here, according to various sources, from 300 to 500 people. The project of the civil initiative “Tragedy on the Intercession” (the Nazis staged the execution of women, children and the elderly on the Orthodox holiday of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God), aimed at the improvement of this burial, received financial support from the Mogilev Regional Association of Local Councils of Deputies. For these purposes, 18 thousand rubles were allocated, 10 percent (1800 rubles) were collected by residents of the district.

It’s not just the names that are perpetuated. On the road leading to the monument, information stands in the form of rural huts were installed.

- The renovation of the memorial is a vivid example of how the state authorities and the youth initiative join forces for the sake of a holy cause - the preservation of historical memory. When we talk about the connection of generations and real patriotism, we mean exactly such actions, said Natalia Greshilova, Chairman of the Klichevsky District Council of Deputies. – Today this place acquires an even deeper meaning. The tragedy of the Jewish people is an unhealing wound and an integral part of the genocide of the Belarusian people. Fascism spared neither children nor the elderly in an attempt to completely destroy our population and our right to life. Thanks to a large-scale investigation conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus, new terrible facts of those years are being revealed. Prosecutors, historians and searchers find new burial sites, establish the names of innocently dead countrymen and discover the true scale of the national catastrophe. In our area of such places during the Great Patriotic War 66, work is underway on several more burials. This investigation is our main legal and moral shield against attempts to rewrite history. These crimes do not and cannot have a statute of limitations. Executors and their accomplices should be named, and the memory of the victims should be immortalized.

The tragedy in the Lesnoye tract was today reproduced in the form of a production: under the sight of automatic rifles to the place of cruel reprisals, the German fascist occupiers chased crying children, women, old people ... They hid in a foggy forest, and then there were automatic queues. There was grave silence in the clearing. And everyone here thought about the pain that their countrymen had experienced many years ago. And that together we must do everything possible to ensure that there is always tsarist harmony, unity and mutual respect on our land. So this never happens again.
