In Murmansk, amid the growth of alternative imports, the choice of foreign cars will change

In Russia, more and more new cars come through alternative imports, bypassing official supply channels. In the first nine months of 2026, such cars accounted for 51% of imports, and in September the figure rose to 66%. This trend applies to buyers in Murmansk, who are considering cars of different brands and import options. This was reported in GTNews.ru.

At the end of nine months in Russia imported a little more than 300 thousand new cars. Of these, 153.5 thousand cars arrived via alternative channels – 75% more than in the same period last year. Official deliveries, by contrast, decreased by 3.4% and amounted to 147.5 thousand cars.

Through official channels to Russia continue to supply Geely, Changan, GAC, Tank and Hongqi. Among the cars that are more often imported by alternative means are Toyota, Mazda, Volkswagen, BMW and Audi.

The automotive market is influenced by the development of local assembly and the replacement of some brands by others. At the same time, alternative supplies are becoming more noticeable and already occupy more than half of the imports of new cars.

When choosing a new car, it is important to pay attention not only to the brand and price, but also to the method of importation. The warranty conditions, availability of spare parts and features of machine maintenance may depend on it.
