In Veliky Novgorod launched the first in Russia serial production of rail plates for HSR

In Veliky Novgorod, the first Russian plant for the production of rail plates for the high-speed highway (HSM) Moscow - St. Petersburg began mass production. The technological process at the plant is almost completely automated, 18 industrial robots are installed on the site.

The agreement on the establishment of the plant between the National Projectstroy Group of Companies and the Novgorod Region was signed at SPIEF in June 2025. Two months later, the first stone was laid at the site, and in August 2026, pilot slabs were manufactured. The launch of the enterprise was attended by the Minister of Transport of Russia Andrei Nikitin, the Governor of the Novgorod region Alexander Dronov, the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and the General Director of the National Projectstroy Group Alexei Krapivin

For HSR, reinforced concrete slabs of NSP 4.0 of its own design of National Projectstroy are made here. They are designed for the Russian railway track with a width of 1520 mm and operation in harsh climatic conditions. In the manufacture, high-strength concrete and an integrated layer of elastic polymer are used. The estimated service life is at least 50 years.

Most operations are automated - from the preparation of forms and laying of concrete to the application of a polymer layer. The geometry of the finished plates is controlled by 3D scanning. The size of each is 5.3 by 2.5 meters, the weight is more than 7 tons. The claimed manufacturing accuracy reaches 0.5 mm.

The design capacity of the enterprise exceeds 100 thousand assembly units per year. The two robotic lines produce about 320 plates per day. The plant will provide up to two-thirds of the needs of the Moscow-St. Petersburg HSR. In addition, the company will be able to produce more than 3.6 million square meters of polymeric materials. The finished products are planned to be sent by rail directly to the sections of the highway.

The total area of buildings and structures of the plant exceeds 79 thousand square meters. In addition to workshops, the complex includes warehouses, a dining room and a hostel for employees.

National Projectstroy Group expects to create about 900 jobs for operators of automated lines, engineers, technologists and logistics specialists. Local colleges and universities are going to be involved in training. A training center should also appear on the territory, where practical classes will be held on industrial equipment.

Governor of Novgorod region Alexander Dronov noted that the regional authorities will continue to support the development of the enterprise:

It is very important that the Novgorod region became a participant in the project that changes the future of the country. For the region, this is both large-scale production and new high-tech jobs.”.

Dronov also drew attention to the participation of National Projectstroy in regional social projects. Among them is the High Technologies Championship and the creation of sports and children’s infrastructure.

The Minister of transport of Russia Andrei Nikitin said that without the specialized production of rail plates to build HSR would be impossible. He also said that in Veliky Novgorod and the region will continue to develop transport infrastructure.

General Director of GC "Natsproektstroy" Alexei Krapivin said that the plant was built in 12 months. According to him, the plates developed specifically for HSR were not previously produced in Russia.

Krapivin thanked the builders, designers, engineers and authorities of the Novgorod region who participated in the creation of the enterprise. According to him, the project was implemented during the year thanks to the joint work of all parties.
