Vologda region develops vocational education system
The national project “Youth and Children” includes the program “Professionality”, the main task of which is to train professional personnel for certain needs of a particular region

Vologda region has joined the program since its launch. For the region, the most popular areas were metallurgy, chemical industry, agriculture, forestry, services, etc. The work is carried out in conjunction with existing enterprises and organizations, so students already at the stage of study get acquainted with all work processes in practice. Practical orientation is the main feature of “Professionality”.
Today, there are 13 clusters of Professionality in the region - from metallurgy and mechanical engineering to pedagogy and tourism. Training is practice-oriented: students master specialties in modern workshops and laboratories equipped with equipment close to real production conditions. In 2027, it is planned to open four more clusters in agriculture, construction, transport, tourism and services. Thus, their number will increase to 17, said Deputy Governor, Minister of Education of the region Ekaterina Tselikova. Our task is to give the family a clear and realistic image of the profession: not abstract slogans, but specific tasks, equipment, working conditions and prospects. That is why we rely on practice and direct dialogue with employers.”.
It was possible to evaluate the possibilities of the program within the framework of the Single Open Day of Professionality, held in mid-October. In the Vologda region, its participants were more than 3 thousand people: students of 8-11 grades and their parents. They got acquainted with the directions, conditions of admission, employment opportunities. Professional tests were also included.
So, in the Vologda College of Law and Technology, the guys performed technological operations on milling and lathes. In Sokol forestry technical school participants worked with carpenter tools. And in Cherepovets Construction College, schoolchildren tried to assemble a plumbing system.
Students-ambassadors of “Professionality” shared their experience at master classes, representatives of partner enterprises told about career opportunities, parents were introduced to the admission rules.
The program not only takes on the training of personnel, but also includes a large professional orientation work with schoolchildren. Thus, the project “Ticket to the Future” is operating, which introduces children to the labor market, allows them to undergo diagnostics of inclinations and professional tests. 275 schools of the region participate in this academic year, it is planned to cover more than 28 thousand students of grades 6-11.
The new direction of “Professionality” was the project “Technological Outpost”. Here already in the center of attention are teachers and methodologists of SSUZ, who will be able to improve their skills.
“In total, about 200 Vologda teachers and mentors – representatives of employers – will be trained within the framework of the project, said Ekaterina Tselikova, Minister of Education of the region. – Students master the programs “Technological Outpost: Theory and Methodology of Personnel Training” and “Technological Outpost: Methodical Support of Personnel Training”. Training takes place in a part-time form with the use of e-learning and distance learning technologies.”.
“Professionality” is also an opportunity to prove yourself, show your professional skills, including potential employers. For example, competitions of the All-Russian championship movement “Professionals” are held annually. Participants are offered to perform practical tasks in the chosen direction, similar to a real work task: working with technology, writing a program, developing a design, etc.
In August, the Vologda team represented the region in 49 competencies at the final stage. Among the awards are four medals and 18 medallions.
In turn, teachers can show themselves at the All-Russian competition among pedagogical workers of the “Master of the Year” system. This is an opportunity to test your skills, share experiences, get acquainted with new practices of colleagues.
At the end of September, the final of the competition was held in Novy Urengoy. The best teachers from all regions of the country gathered here. Vologda region was represented by Ilya Anikin, a teacher of the Vologda technical school of railway transport. Participants had to solve an educational case and conduct an open lesson. As a result, a dozen of the best teachers were announced - they had to pass the competition "Fall in Love with the Profession" - to tell students about their professional path, the possibilities of the specialty and its values.
