Belarus in prize-winners: the winners of the “Victory Cup” in beach volleyball became known

Winners and prize-winners of the international beach volleyball tournament “Victory Cup” were determined on the site at the capital’s Sports Palace. Who has risen to the highest level of the podium and what results have been achieved by Belarusian athletes – in the material of the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

For the third place, the Belarusian duo Alexander Dedkov and Pavel Petrushko fought with representatives of Dynamo Moscow - Vladislav Reinson and Vyacheslav Krasilnikov. It should be noted that the Russian couple has serious international experience: in its assets - the title of world champions and medals of the Olympic Games.

The first set remained for the opponents - 21:17. In the second game, the Belarusians also failed to change the course of the meeting and lost with a score of 18:21. The meeting ended with the score 2: 0 in favor of the Russian pair, and Alexander and Pavel took fourth place. Nevertheless, compared to last year’s result, the Belarusian couple made a step forward – in the current draw they reached the match for bronze.

The winners of the “Victory Cup” in the men’s category were Oleg Stoyanovsky and Ilya Leshukov, representing the Novourengoy club “Fakel-Yamal”. In the final match, they defeated representatives of Kaluga Obninsk Dmitry Veretyuk and Fedor Sabaev in three games - 17:21, 21:18, 15:11.

In the female category, bronze went to Dynamo Moscow. Kristina Filimonova and Ekaterina Shevtsova in the match for third place took over compatriots Veronika Plotnikova and Polina Tyshkevich.

The Belarusian duo in the fight for gold met with last year’s winners of the Victory Cup – Maria Egorova and Maria Lazurenko from the Kaliningrad Lokomotiv. The final meeting was the main test of the tournament for our athletes.

In the middle of the first game, the Belarusians had a minimal advantage, and the game was almost equal. Both pairs actively attacked, but at the end of the opponent was more accurate – 21:19. The second set began for the hosts of the site less successfully. Domestic athletes allowed their rivals to go to a significant margin and could not win back - 7:21. In the end - a defeat with the score 0: 2.

For Nadezhda Tishkova and Victoria Secretova, this success was historic: their silver is the first medal won by Belarusians during the two years of the Victory Cup in Minsk.

After the final, the duo shared their emotions from the performance.

- Our second place today is a good result. Of course, you always want to be the first, but at the moment the girls from Lokomotiv are stronger. We will work to give them a fight next time, the Belarusians said.

Hope admitted that her partner Victoria was a role model for her as a child.

- I used to admire her performance and now we are on the same team. For me, Vika is not only a great partner, but also a good friend. She always supports me during matches, Tishkova said.

V.Secretova, in turn, called the season successful for their duo.

- We won gold at the championships of Belarus, and now we have reached the final of the international tournament “Victory Cup”. I think the season ended very well for us, the athlete said.

In total, 24 strongest couples from Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan competed for the awards of the international beach volleyball tournament in Minsk.

On September 13, the Challenge Cup will be held at the Sports Palace. As part of the confrontation, representatives of beach volleyball will meet with classical volleyball players and try to determine who will be stronger. The duels will be held in a 4×4 format.
