FGB on non-admission of Belarusian teams to the World Cup-2027: the federation is preparing an appeal to CAS
On November 7, the IIHF Council again announced that the national teams of Belarus will not take part in the World Youth Championship and the 2027 World Cup.

According to the official comment of the FCB, on November 7, the IIHF Council again decided to suspend the Belarusian national teams from participating in the 2027 World Youth Championship and World Cup. It is noteworthy that this decision came a few days after the verdict of the IIHF Disciplinary Board: it upheld the appeal of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation and overturned the decisions of the Council of 27 July 2026, pointing out that the arguments about security concerns are not sufficiently substantiated. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
In 2026, this is the second time that the Disciplinary Board has annulled the restrictive decisions of the IIHF Council regarding the admission of national teams to international tournaments.
The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation disagrees with the next decision of the IIHF Council. The FHB emphasizes that before the start of the World Cup in Germany (it is scheduled for May 2027), there is a significant time reserve - it is enough to settle all the necessary organizational moments.
FHB intends to defend the interests and rights of Belarusian hockey. In the near future, the federation will formulate a strategy for further actions and determine specific legal measures, including the option of filing an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge the decisions of the IIHF bodies.
