Rybakina won the US Open: Sobolenko lost in a dramatic final
In the decisive match of the US Open, Elena Rybakina beat Arina Sobolenko with the score 4:6, 7:5, 2:6. The first game remained for Rybakina due to a confident serve and a minimum of errors.

The final of the US Open tennis championship brought victory to Elena Rybakina – she defeated Arina Sobolenko. The final score of the match is 4:6, 7:5, 2:6. This is reported by the National Olympic Committee.
In the opening set, Elena Rybakina confidently controlled the game: a high-quality first serve and an almost complete absence of unforced errors helped her take the upper hand in the game - 6: 4.
In the second set, Arina Sobolenko significantly improved the game: she became less likely to make mistakes when hitting from the backhand and more actively took the second serve of the opponent - this allowed her to turn the course of the match and equalize the score on sets (7: 5).
But the decisive game remained for Rybakina: the tennis player began to inflict deeper blows, directing them under the back line. Because of this, Sobolenko had almost no time to prepare for response. As a result, Rybakina broke early, took control of the game and won the title of champion of the US Open.
This victory was Elena’s first at the tournament in New York. At the same time, Arina Sobolenko has already celebrated success at the US Open in 2024 and 2025.
From Monday, Sobolenko will take the second place in the world ranking - before that, the Belarusian was the leader of the list of the best tennis players for 99 consecutive weeks. Elena Rybakina will head the WTA rating for the first time in her career.
