Alexander Zverev for the first time in his career became a triumphant of the US Open. In the final of the American major, the German tennis player beat the host of the court Ben Shelton, writes sb.by.

The confrontation ended with the score 6:3, 7:6 (7:2), 5:7, 6:2 in favor of Zverev. Tennis players spent 3 hours and 36 minutes on the court.
At the end of the match there was a curious moment. Zverev did not immediately realize he had won the US Open:
- Honestly, I thought the score was 5-1. It helped me. Maybe otherwise, instead of making one double mistake, I would probably have made three. I knew I was leading with two breaks, but it was a long match, like the two weeks. But in the end, I'm happy.

For the German athlete, this is the second victory in the Grand Slam tournaments. This season he won the Roland Garros and reached the Wimbledon final. It was also his second title match at the US Open of his career - in 2020 he lost to Austrian Dominic Thiem, leading 2-0 on sets.
In the new version of the ATP rating, Zverev will remain the second racket of the planet, behind the Italian Yannick Sinner 1810 points. Shelton will move from ninth to fourth.
