Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov is unaware of U.S. proposals to conclude business deals before the end of the conflict with Ukraine. He said this himself, commenting on the publication of The New York Times (NYT) that Washington wants to encourage Moscow to achieve peace.
“I do not know anything about such signals, and it would be strange to receive them, because so far we hear exactly the opposite disposition, namely, let’s agree on Ukraine and move forward, and everything else later,” Ryabkov said. According to him, it is also about economic projects.
Earlier, the US authorities insisted that they would not make any deals with Russia until the conflict with Ukraine is over. NYT sources say the U.S. has begun looking for new approaches to the Kremlin to persuade it to stop fighting. Among the possible proposals, they say, are business agreements. The newspaper doesn't reveal them.
