By the end of 2025, Russia ranked second in the world in terms of arms exports. The figure was $ 15 billion - 12.55% of the world's total military exports. This is evidenced by the study of the Russian Center for Analysis of the World Arms Trade (TSAMTO).
The organization argues that the sanctions had a weak impact on the volume of Russian arms exports. The restrictions, however, have led to increased confidentiality of supplies, as well as the search for alternative payment options. Russian production also managed to successfully switch to the “military rails”, fulfilling both the state order for the needs of military operations in Ukraine and export contracts.
The first place in the world in terms of defense supplies is occupied by the United States, the publication notes. In 2025, American enterprises exported $44.6 billion worth of weapons, which is 37.32% of the global total. According to this indicator, the past year, according to TSAMTO, was a record for the United States.
Germany took third place for the first time, supplying weapons for $ 8.9 billion (7.45% of world supplies). The fourth place was taken by South Korea ($8.8 billion, or 7.35% of all exports), and the fifth – France ($8.6 billion, or 7.22% of supplies). The top ten also included Israel, Italy, Turkey, Spain and China. In total, in 2025, the countries of the world exported arms worth $119.5 billion. This is the highest figure since the end of the Cold War, TsAMTO said.
