Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has said the country should work towards a return to the European Union within ten years. He wrote about it in an open address “The Path to a Return to a Reformed Europe”. He said the Labour Party should include a plan to return to the EU in its programme. Mr Blair said the UK should insist on suitable conditions for return and negotiate with the leadership of the association about it.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he did not rule out the possibility of returning the country to the EU. He noted that he does not intend to deal with this issue in the near future. According to The Guardian, the statement of Tony Blair increases the pressure on Andy Burnham on the issue of revision of the results of “Brexit”. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting called Britain's exit from the EU a "catastrophic mistake" and said the party should make it its goal to return to the EU.
In a poll published by YouGov in June, 57% of respondents said the Brexit decision was a mistake and 55% would support the country’s return to the EU.
