Russian Foreign Ministry: truce will not ensure sustainable peace in Ukraine
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the topic of the truce arises on the agenda when Ukraine needs respite, but this will not ensure a sustainable settlement. The continuation of hostilities does not prevent the search for a long-term solution to the conflict.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the topic of the truce arises on the agenda when Ukraine needs respite, but this will not ensure a sustainable settlement. The continuation of hostilities does not prevent the search for a long-term solution to the conflict.
“It has been repeatedly explained that a truce is required every time the enemy feels tough pressure and is looking for ways to get a breather,” Ryabkov told reporters. “A truce equals respite. From our side, it has been repeatedly said that our goal is a long-term sustainable settlement, the deputy foreign minister said.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibigha said the country was ready “for a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire” and called on Russia to “do the same.” Before that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump discussed an energy truce. Sergey Ryabkov noted that Moscow took this idea seriously, but such statements are not always supported by real deeds.
