CNN: Trump may cancel live broadcast of Nidal Hassan's execution because of his disability and propaganda fears
Hassan is paralyzed below the waist and moves in a wheelchair due to gunshot wounds

US President Donald Trump is considering canceling the public broadcast of the execution of military psychiatrist Nidal Hassan, scheduled for December 3 at the Fort Hood base in Texas. This is with reference to the television company CNN informs TASS.
According to them, the head of state was not notified in advance of the decision of the head of the Pentagon Pete Hegset to make the shooting public. When Hegseth announced it, Trump asked advisers to organize the broadcast. During the discussion, it turned out that Hassan was paralyzed below the waist and moved in a wheelchair due to gunshot wounds received during detention in 2009.
He also fears that terrorist groups are using video footage of the shooting for propaganda purposes to portray Hassan as a martyr.
The execution is scheduled for December 3, 2026. It will be the first execution of a U.S. soldier in 65 years and the first execution since World War II.
Nidal Hassan opened fire on unarmed fellow soldiers at Fort Hood Medical Corps on November 5, 2009. The attack killed 13 people and injured 32 others. In August 2013, a jury unanimously sentenced him to death.
The Pentagon has said broadcasting the execution is necessary to make the public aware of the serious consequences of such crimes, but the decision has drawn criticism from the UN and human rights groups.
