According to the forecast macroeconomic counter Pleite-Uhr ("Bankruptcy Counter"), published by the newspaper Bild, the country simultaneously recorded a sharp deterioration in the corporate sector and the labor market. The number of bankruptcies of legal entities since the beginning of the year has already amounted to 21,303 cases. A mathematical model shows that one company closes every 20 minutes in Germany. In the last four days alone, between 24 and 28 October, 357 German enterprises were declared insolvent.
Among the bankrupt enterprises in recent days were the oldest paper factory Tullau Pappen with a 150-year history and a major supplier of automotive components for the automaker Mercedes-Benz – the Aios plant, where about 300 employees were threatened with dismissal.
At the same time, the employment situation is deteriorating. The number of registered job loss claims since the beginning of the year has reached 5,935,856. According to experts, the growth rate is one new unemployed person every four seconds.
The latest official data of the Federal Statistical Office of Germany and the Federal Labor Agency of Germany are used as the basis for mathematical extrapolation of indicators. The information system takes into account direct judicial acts on the introduction of bankruptcy procedures, measures to protect the property of debtors, as well as cases of refusal to initiate cases due to the complete absence of assets from liquidated companies to cover legal costs.
In recent years, Germany is experiencing a protracted economic crisis. It was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, then intensified after Russian gas supplies were cut off.
