The development from Anthropic and OpenEvidence is a specialized version of medical artificial intelligence that will be free in dozens of low- and middle-income countries. In such regions, limited access to medical literature, expertise and continuing education can impair patient care.
According to Reuters, it will cover about 100 countries, including Uganda, Angola, Sudan, Haiti and Mongolia.
“Access to medical knowledge should not depend on geography,” said OpenEvidence founder Daniel Nadler.
Anthropic technologies will provide backend support (server maintenance and smooth operation), while OpenEvidence will adapt the system to different regions taking into account the healthcare infrastructure.
Earlier, Anthropic announced the creation of a biological research laboratory. The project is aimed at scaling the company’s technological ambitions in the field of medicine and accelerating the development of medicines using neural networks.
