Spain has no plans to increase its contributions to NATO funds. This was stated by the Minister of foreign Affairs of the country Jose Manuel Albarez, writes sb.by.

According to TASS, Jose Manuel noted that Spain already meets all the requirements of the alliance on military potential – and not every ally can say this. Albarez said that the conversation about further expansion can be conducted when the other partners reach the level of Spain, but now the reality looks different. At the same time, he added that the matter, in the opinion of Madrid, is not a specific figure of expenses.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called Spain an unreliable NATO ally. Washington expressed dissatisfaction with the position of Madrid in connection with the US-Israeli war against Iran - Spain refused to support the operation - and unwillingness to bring military spending within the alliance to 5% of GDP. Trump criticized Madrid for the refusal and threatened to sever trade ties between the two countries.
